HOW IT ALL BEGANOur first Cocker was a pretty orange roan bitch bought originally as a pet only, though she came from well-known show lines, including Scolys & Glowhill. We initially started off doing obedience with Jenny, then we went to a couple of exemption shows... one thing led to another & somehow we became immersed in the addictive world of showing dogs! Rosebrier Jennie of Shenmore (pictured right) was a lovely character who taught us so much about the breed & we will always be grateful to her for introducing us to this absorbing hobby.
Jenny had just one litter to the famous Normanview Midnight Runner of Classicway. We kept a light blue bitch who became Shenmore Sweetpea (photo left). Jodie was a true "merry Cocker" - she never stopped wagging her tail, even when ill. She became our first Crufts qualifier & our first KC Stud Book number winner. Sadly, Jodie had to be spayed to save her life after a disastrous pregnancy & so we were unable to continue with this "line"
Normanview Cacharpaya at Shenmore (photo right) can be found in the pedigrees of most of our current dogs. Heather was a sweet, gentle-natured girl with a beautiful head & expression. She did not excel in the show ring but was a super "mum". Her second litter to Sh Ch Lindridge Salute produced Shenmore Starlet (Daisy), our first Junior Warrant winner & dam of Sh Ch Shenmore Seeing Stars (Katie). Daisy (photo left) was a lovely gentle girl who is sadly missed by all of us at Shenmore. She was a successful show girl in her day, gaining her JW & many firsts at Championship shows. She then went on to produce some lovely progeny when mated to Sh Ch Bitcon Troubador, including Seeing Stars & her younger sister, Shenmore Sonnet, pictured below (JW winner & dam of Castanea Sonneteer, RCC Crufts 1999). She had a long & happy retirement, enjoying her walks in the woods right until her last few months. Although most of our dogs are homebred & go back to our foundation Normanview bitch, we have occasionally added "new blood", such as Lynwater Ivy, a daughter of the lovely Sh Ch Lynwater Forget Me Not & dam of our Shenmore Snowdrop, (dam to Sh Ch Shenmore Sun Flower JW). Also making their contributions have been Bitcon Ladybird (RCC winner) & Symbiosis Star Sign At Shenmore JW (parents of 2002's top winning puppy bitch, Shenmore Secret Star). Other notable additions include Sh Ch Caefardre Caprice At Shenmore JW who had such a sensational show career and in more recent times, Am Ch Whitfield's Tri And Stop Me, a beautiful tricolour girl from the USA.
